A group of 400 Tempus AI lab workers who use AI to research diseased cells filed with the regional National Labor Relations Board on Tuesday, Feb. 6 to join the IAM Union (International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers). Lab workers are seeking voluntary recognition of their union from Tempus AI management.
“We all love working at Tempus and care deeply about the future of cancer care, but there are many things we think Tempus could do better,” said the IAM Tempus Worker Organizing Committee. “We’re fighting for rigorous safety protocols, pay and benefits that align with the rest of our industry, a voice on the job, and to better the outcomes for the patients that Tempus serves.”
Tempus AI lab workers, many of whom carry advanced degrees, are seeking stronger safety standards, a better life-work balance, more competitive pay and benefits compared to industry colleagues, and equity and transparency from their employer.
